Amy,
I'm not sure that I can give all of my thoughts on God in a blog comment post, but I do want to provide some information to you. First of all, I believe that God is a loving God. He gave his only son for us. He loves us more than we know and can ever understand.
The bummer thing is that Christians are... wait for it... human. Churches are run by humans, some good and some bad with good intentions. It's unfortunate that hating the sinner has become bigger than hating the sin. I belong to a church that I think gets it... as you stated any sin is as bad as any other sin. I really cannot do this topic justice so, I;d love for you to take a listen to how our pastor answered the question in a Q&A session - https://sites.google.com/site/marklindsley/sin1.mp3?attredirects=0&d=1

How do you differentiate? The Bible is the authority; all the answers are in there. There's an answer to every life challenge in there. There really isn't anything new under the sun that hasn't been experienced through the Bible.

I do hope that I didn't get preachy on you or anything. I wish you the best as you try to figure it all out. I've been a Christ Follower for 12 years and I still have a long way to go to understand what it's all about.

Please feel free to email or tweet with any questions.

Blessings,

my oldest's first childcare situation was in someone's home. they kept several kids and got to do all kinds of things. Lunch around the table, helping pick fresh produce from the garden, feeding the animals. we moved when she was 2 so she doesn't remember it, but for a new mom it was perfect! sound like you chose a perfect place too!

Oh, I thought I was being smart a couple of years ago when I bought these bins. I labeled them all nicely with things like, "Dress Up Clothes," "Mr. Potato Head," etc. Then I realized she was only 2 and couldn't read. I guess I jumped the gun just a little on that whole deal. But the label-maker is ready & waiting for when she's ready.

My older son was a hitter, biter, spitter, you name it, he did it. It was all rooted in his inability to express himself (and this was a child that spoke clearly at 11 months old) to his satisfaction. Once he learned to verbalize his thoughts, the hitting and biting stopped. But it was a long process of teaching him that it was not acceptable to strike out like that.

My younger son, otoh, never did any of it. Angel from Day One. I cannot explain the difference! Good luck!!

Thanks, it's nice to know I'm not alone! It's definitely hard to manage the commute, work & all the rest, but we manage. Some days better than others.

I think everything seems magnified when I'm pms-ing. I stay home with my daughter, so i can't imaging how hard it must be to have two and work. I commend you. seriously.
